The Power of Perfect Timing: Beginning the Journey in October

This reflection was inspired by a client’s courageous insight, shared at the very beginning of her healing journey. With her permission to share in this way (and without using her name), these words now ripple outward to honor all who are remembering, healing, and unfolding into freedom.

Sometimes, healing begins at exactly the right time—even if we don’t realize it until later.

October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month—a time when survivors, families, and communities pause to honor pain, remember resilience, and hold space for transformation.

For one woman beginning her healing journey this month, the alignment was no coincidence:

“It could have been last month or next year, but it’s right here, in October—when others are remembering, honoring, and healing from pain caused by cruel people. And that feels so appropriate.”

Her insight is a reminder that our personal healing is never separate from the greater collective. When we begin to free ourselves, we step into the current of countless others doing the same.

October becomes not just a marker of past pain, but a threshold for new beginnings. It’s an invitation to stand in solidarity with all who are walking through remembrance, release, and renewal.

Reflect With Me

This October, pause and reflect:

  • What chapters of your own story are asking for attention and healing?

  • How does your personal journey weave into the greater human journey?

  • What message of strength would you offer to yourself—and to others walking alongside you?

You might use this journaling practice to deepen your reflection:

Journaling Prompt:

This October, as I step into my healing journey, I notice the alignment with Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. What does this timing mean to me?

• How does it feel to know I am beginning this work during a month when so many others are remembering, honoring, and healing from similar pain?

• In what ways do I feel connected to a greater community of survivors, even if I’ve never met them?

• What strength or message would I offer to others walking this path alongside me?

• What strength or message would I offer to myself?

Let your words flow without judgment. This is not about “getting it right,” but about giving voice to your truth in this moment.
