The Cathedral, the Candle, the Constellations, and the Companion

The whole Cathedral can arrive at once—the teachings, the offerings, the sacred spaces, and the life’s work still waiting to be given form. But what would happen if, before trying to build it all, you simply lit the first Candle?

This contemplation arrived after I found myself reflecting on the many teachings, meditations, offerings, and sacred spaces I feel called to create.

I saw how easily the vision of the whole Cathedral could become so vast that it delayed the lighting of the first Candle.

Then a question came:

What would happen if you simply lit the Candle first?

I went for a slow walk and allowed the question to accompany me.

When I returned, these four presences were waiting:

The Cathedral.

The Candle.

The Constellations.

The Companion.

This is the story that followed.

The Cathedral

What is the Cathedral?

It is a life’s work.

It is what the Soul accomplishes during the lifespan of its Human.

It is what remains when the Soul releases the Human and returns from where it came.

The Cathedral is a living structure—one that may be entered by those who wish to sit within the Light of a Soul.

Perhaps, while sitting there, they will light a Candle of their own and carry it back onto the path.

Perhaps they will carry it into the deepest darkness, where, in time and space, they will begin building their own Cathedral for others walking the Human journey of the Soul.

The Human builds the Cathedral.

Then the Soul departs, leaving behind a Cathedral filled with Candles.

A refuge.

A haven.

A lighthouse.

The Candle

What is the Candle?

It is the smallest and truest moment.

It is the Sacred Pause.

It is Light intertwining with the breath and expanding outward through the ripples of a beating Heart.

It is the eye of the needle through which Light is threaded from the Upper Realms into the denser world of form.

It is a rip in the fabric of darkness.

It is the Gift you have come to carry.

The Constellations

What are the Constellations?

They are every Candle ever lit.

No true flame is ever lost.

Each one remains present, strumming the unseen threads of your destiny and guiding those who remember to raise their gaze in contemplation.

A single Candle may appear small while you are carrying it.

But from the heavens, every Light finds its place within a pattern.

Together, the Candles become Constellations.

The Companion

And who is the Companion?

The Companion is the Heart.

It never leaves your side.

It is the entrance back into what your Human was made to forget.

It is the pathway to the Soul’s Home.

It is your connection to All That Is.

It is the portal Home.

The Path of the Candle

Beautiful Human,

While you set your Mind upon building your Cathedral, look toward your Heart and see the Candle your Soul is offering you now.

Do not wait until you understand the whole Cathedral.

Receive the Candle.

Use your breath to carry it through the Sacred Space of your being and out into the world.

Hold it steadily.

When the flame is held within the shelter of the Heart, no wind can extinguish it.

Look into the heavens and sense where your Candle belongs.

Close your eyes.

Feel your Heart.

Be with your breath.

Then open your eyes and live within the magnificence of the Cathedral already forming around you.

When the Candle has been placed, return to your Companion.

Another will be waiting.

And when your final breath is complete—when the path between Heart and Cathedral has been walked so often that it has become well worn—allow your Soul to rise and look back through the heavens.

May it gaze upon the majesty of the Constellations you have made.

May it see every Candle carried into darkness.

Every Sacred Pause through which Light entered the world.

Every Human who found refuge within the glow and carried a flame onward.

And may the Soul recognize that the Cathedral was never built all at once.

It was built one Candle at a time.
